Design Brief
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it.
•

I am making/using a program that will help me explain the design cycle to a sixth grader.

Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
•

It has to be simple and be able to explain the design cycle. Survey at least 3 sixth graders.
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?
•

The presentation has to be at least 2 minutes long. It also has to be neat and clear.

13. How will you "test" your project?I will test my project by explaining it to a sixth grader. I know that its succesful if the sixth grader understands the design cycle. I can give them a survey about what was on my presentation to see how much they understood. My questions will be based on the presentation, and ill give them 5 questions. If they get them right then it'll be obvious that they understood.

Investigation Reflection c:

I'd give myself a 4 or a 5. I give mself this grade because i investigated the programs. During this stage I was confused a bit. I wasn't sure if I was doing it right, that is why i dont give myself a 6. I think that i still could have done better and shown the 6th graders a better way to explain the Design cycle.

The total score that I gave photobucket was a 10.  I was using a scale from 1-5. I gave it a 5 on simplicity because its easy to use. After you log in you upload a photo and it has all the tools to edit it. You can easily upload a photo. I also like the fact that it shows where the themes and tools are. It has a section that says themes, edit photos, organize, etc.. That makes it very simple to use.
I gave it a 5 for themes, because you can add borders, and stickers. You can also add words to the pictures. Also it has a section that say themes and it shows different backgrounds and colors that you could use for it. It lets you edit the photos and make it look black and white or different colors. That makes it very creative, and it attracts people's attention.
I gave photobucket a 0 because you can't add music but you can turn the phot into a gif. I think that the fact that you cant add music is kind of disappointing. My opinion is that adding music makes it better because its fun to here it. It's exciting and entertaining. But overall photobucket is a good program for photos.
The score I gave for clip genarator was a 9. I gave it a 3 on simplicity because its not really easy to edit on their. What you mostly do is you add/choose a song then you upload the photo/video.  I gave it a 1 on themes because it doesnt really have themes. For music i gave it a 5 because it has alot of music choices. It has recent songs and different genres, and I really like that about it.

I was looking at Photobucket as one of my choices for showing the 6th graders how the design cycle works. I think that photobucket is a good way to show them how the design cycle works because i can easily upload pictures and and add captions to it. Ill explain each step with a picture.

Day 2: Investigation Reflection

Flipbook (benettonplay.com) allows you to draw. What i think about this website is that its a good way to show animation and some people learn by seeing stuff. For others reading is easier. This is good way to show the MYP Design cycle to the 6th graders because its simple. You can draw which will probably entertain them because its hard to draw, and the pictures look funny.
Clip Generator is good for videos , and I personally like the fact that you dont have to create an account to use it. It shows new music like: Lady Gaga, Justin bieber, Britney Spears, Drake, and Eminem. I think that 6th graders will enjoy listening to them. The website allows you to add photos or you can add a video. This makes it really easy to explain the MYP design cycle to 6th graders because you can just make a video explaining it.

Area of Interaction: Community and Service , Approaches to Learning & Human Ingenuity
Significant Concept: Design Cycle can be used to solve problems
Unit Question: How can my learning help my community? How do I make Sound Choices?
INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences) Identify the Problem
1. What is the problem you need to solve? Explain to a 6th grader what the design cycle is all about by creating a presentation. (3d, PPT, movie, game, Poster)
2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world?
3. How will this project serve my community?
4. How can my learning help my community?
5. How do we live in relation to each other?
6. How does this help others?
7. What are the requirements for this assignment?
8. What is the Design Cycle?
REFLECT on your learning.
Day 2
9. Spend one day experimenting with DESIGN CYCLE your presentation. List five things your learned about the Design Cycle:
Day 3
Design Brief
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?
13. How will you "test" your presentation?
REFLECT ON YOUR LEARNING
PLAN:
14. Brainstorm ideas. Use the chart below
IB Brainstorming Chart .pdf found in schoology under “materials”& then files
15. What idea did you choose to demonstrate the design cycle and why did you choose it?
16. Does your idea meet all of the requirements?
17. Use the story board paper below to plan your presentation.  Include how many levels you will have, what will be on each level, how will you include teaching skills to young students, and what will your questions be about.
story board.pdf found in schoology under “materials” & then files.
18. Explain how you will use your time to get your project finished in 12 days:
REFLECT on your learning
EVALUATE:
20. How could you improve your presentation?
21. Does your presentation meet all of the requirements?
22. Share your presentation with at least 2-8th, 3-9th, 4-10th+ friends. What did he/she like about your presentation?
23. Reflect on all the steps of the Design Cycle. What did you do well? What do you need to improve?
24. Were you responsible in using the software, Internet, pictures, and computer?
25. How can my learning help my community?
26. What grade do you deserve on this project? (1 - 6)

ATTITUDE:
27. Reflect on your attitude on each step of the Design Cycle. Did you completely answer each step without complaining, being a whiny baby, or saying "it's too hard". Explain your answer:
28. What grade do you deserve on your attitude? (1 - 6)
